The Effects of Kala Sarpa Dosha and its Remedies
The Kala Sarpa Yoga/Dosha is a highly feared planetary affliction in Vedic Astrology. It is called a Dosha due to its inauspicious results. ‘Kal’ means ‘time’, and ‘Sarpa’ means ‘serpent’. It is also called Naga Dosha.
Rahu and Ketu, the shadow planets or lunar nodes in Vedic astrology, represent a snake’s head and body. Kala Sarpa Dosha occurs when all the planets – the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn), including the Lagna/Ascendant, are positioned between Rahu and Ketu. When this happens, the planets will not give results as per their full potential. Life will be like a roller coaster ride for people who have Kala Sarpa Yoga.
Rahu and Ketu are karmic planets. They are linked to our past life karma and unmet desires. So the native’s life will be heavily influenced by their past life karma. Kala Sarpa Dosha can have many adverse effects on a person’s life. An unhappy and unstable life is possible. But not all who have this Dosha will suffer. Some successful people have this Yoga too. It depends on other factors as well.
The Effects of Kala Sarpa Dosham
The Kala Sarpa Yoga is, in many cases, very inauspicious. The problems it can cause depend on the position and condition of the planets. Some of the effects are given below:
· Delays in work-related projects
· Severe losses in business and obstacles to growth
· A troubled mental state
· Poor health and anxiety
· Misunderstandings with family and friends
· A troubled marriage
Kala Sarpa Combinations and their effects
In an ideal formation, all the signs between Rahu and Ketu should occupy planets continuously. Also, no sign should be unoccupied. This Yoga will not be operational if the Lagna, or any of the planets, is not within the Rahu-Ketu axis.
If Rahu or Ketu is present with a planet in Lagna or the 7th house, inauspicious results can reduce significantly. If there are other good Yogas, good results are likely after some initial obstacles.
If Rahu is 6 Rasis ahead of all the other planets, and Ketu is behind all the planets, the Yoga will not cause many problems. If the planet that is associated with Rahu or Ketu is occupying its own sign or an exaltation sign, the bad effects will diminish. The beneficial effects can increase when Rahu or Ketu is in Trikon or if Rahu is strong and all the other planets are moving towards it.
When Ketu is 6 Rasis ahead of all the major planets, and Rahu is behind all the planets, the impact will be negative. The negative effects will be more if Rahu or Ketu occupies Kendra or if Rahu is debilitated and all planets move towards it.
Conditions that can nullify Kala Sarpa Dosha
In some cases, the Dosha does not affect the natives. Some conditions in the birth chart that nullify the Kala Sarpa Dosha are:

· Malefic planets that aspect Rahu and Ketu
· 2 or 3 planets in their own sign or an exalted condition
